Armenia’s CSTO membership could be discussed at November 11 session

Armenia’s membership in the CSTO could be discussed at the Collective Security Council session on November 11, 2026. According to Mail News, the organization’s secretary general, Taalatbek Masadykov, raised the possibility. This concerns a potential discussion, not a decision already made.

The outlet cites “systematic violations” by Yerevan as the reason. According to Mail News, Nikol Pashinyan previously said he would be pleased if Armenia were expelled from the organization.

Mail News, citing TASS, reports that Masadykov said the CSTO continues to send documents to the Armenian side for domestic approval. Yerevan responds that it does not participate in discussions or decision-making but does not object to the remaining members making decisions in a restricted format.

In the same statement quoted by Mail News, Masadykov said the Armenian side listens to weekly reports but does not participate in major events or exercises. The secretary general described this as a de facto withdrawal from the organization and cited Article 25 of the CSTO Charter. This assessment of Armenia’s participation in the organization’s work should not be equated with a formal termination of membership.
